About College


              Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Amravati, is one the oldest higher educational institutions in the whole Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, striving hard to provide education to women.

              In the last 55 years, the institute has proved genuine support for the girls to undertake higher education and try to become economically independent and develop as Indian citizens with a learned approach and matured sensibilities.


             The institute had gone through various phases of development. Earlier, considering the social structure, the parents preferred this institute for their daughters as co-education was not accepted readily.
Considering the requirement, the college started its journey by offering subjects in humanities which gave support to the students to become good homemakers also.

             Slowly in tune with the social changes, the institute has adopted the new trends, so the commerce faculty was started. Earlier it was with only Marathi medium. But considering the need of time, the English medium was also offered.


             The institute always showed the progressive temperament to adopt all the societal changes, which remained beneficial for the students. Today, the institute provides education from graduation to Ph.D., along with various career-oriented vocational courses.

             The location of the college is also very much beneficial to the students who are unable to afford local conveyance. It is located in the heart of the city, and so the students can even walk or use a bicycle to reach the institute even today.

              The parent institution, Nutan Vidarbha Shikshan Mandal, has provided an excellent infrastructure to the institute, and it is well maintained. Despite having constraints about space, the parent institution always strives to provide new infrastructure or renovate the old one to conduct an excellent teaching-learning process.

             The institute adopts the combination of traditional and modern ICT based educational processes making it more vibrant and concurrent with the recent changes and opportunities for the students. Appearing for the third cycle of NAAC Assessment is an opportunity for the institute to evaluate the journey by the academic peers and proceed further with their suggestions.
